Others have said there is a Steam.dll in Filesystem:C/Windows/System32 but I didn't find one. You may also want to try to opt in a beta of the Source SDK's and every Source game you have. You may also want to be a bit more descriptive in the title Make it
Can't start up game error on all Hl2 mods not installed from steam
as Odd error on all Hl2 mods not installed from steam sounds as if it might just be an object that is untextured or something along those lines. Anyway, I hope this fixes your problem
If still get errors, move your SteamApps folder out of the Steam folder, then uninstall/reinstall Steam Client. Once reinstalled, move your SteamApps folder back to the root Steam folder so u have all your games back.
I get the [CFileSystem_Steam::Init() failed: failed to find steam interface] with some things I am doing, mainly Team Fortress 2 related.
Long story short: I am trying to run OLD versions of TF2 without Steam because I want to use them on OLD computers, period.
I can extrapolate by the name of the error that this is just and only a failure on the .exe's side to find Steam running, so tricking it into believing it is would fix it.
I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DO IT, I am not a code writer, and don't know of mods or stuff yet, I am still researching, but since I am here I may just leave this note for posterity.
