Really losing heart with pc gaming please help me

Ive had an xbox360 and never had one loading or crashing problem. I wanted a pc for iTunes foobar and spotify and windows office. They work great and I'm over the moon. Then i thought lets go pc gaming and its a nightmare. I spent 550 on my pc it was in pc format magazine as there budget pick. Aria gladiator graphics card is geoforce 650 ti boost and should play every game on medium settings through my 1920x1080p tv. The problem is steam is getting me down i bought 20 games in the sale and thought this is brilliant downloaded them all so i have steam on the ssd and the games all one the 1tb harddrive inside the drivers are all update steams up to date windows live is up to date i have direct 9 and 11 installed . So all i want is pc on lets play games no steam has only launched my games 2 in 8 days tuesday and last night come back today and opened dirt3 nothing street fighter nothing batman nothing. Ive uninstalled everything lost my data and redownloaded last week worked well for a day and the same. I am on windows 8 i think my processor is amd630 450w psu cool master case sky hub really am getting upset its most my savings gone and wont be able to buy a ps4 now which this was ment to do me for the next 18 months. Is it steam will i get a stable gaming experience from disc oc games. Thanks in advance simon

Got it working again i had to close it down and go to the website and hit install and do a repair it really is not plug and play.

Sounds like you had a corrupted install, and about your plug and play comment, I've had steam installed for 9 years and only had to reinstall 2 or 3 times so far. You just got unlucky.

I must have something wrong when i come out a game none then work go to repair and i can pick any game they all play fine so until i find out whats wrong just have to repair inbetween each game.

Im really loving steam rather than flick through my xbox discs i have an iTunes style library of games with getting off the sofa just wished that every time i finish a game i did not ave to repair the install so it must be something with my windows8 install ill get to the bottom it.

Yeah, I currently have 0 "critical" complaints about Steam as well -- as far as games go, it just works.

And it's pretty much the first time "in ages" that I don't have to install cracks for everything, as Steam games don't need DVDs in the drive or other stupid things. Plus all the other conveniences, of course.

And no, no "installation repairs" or anything. They might be a bit slow on bugs that they don't consider important, but having to fix things after playing a game probably would be considered important, and thus get fixed soon.

i haved a disc game and it loaded and saved 31 times will no problem played steam games dirt 3 crashed had to turn the power off on the pc. then batman ac froze on me in mid air same thing now even with a repair ans a whole install of steam no game will load. i had put all games on low setting to make sure the settings were not to high really steam is a joke. i just anted somewhere to download games and play not a software that needs to keep updating and loggd on to to play my games.

What I'm gathering from your incoherent, barely legible post is that your PC is broken.

im complete novice at this, but may it have anything to do with,you having steam and the games on different disks?
also, have you tried running in compatibility mode for windows 7, seeing as most games were made for win 7 not win 8

i too have never had problems with steam, gmod will crash when i play on mac, but thats because it has a memory leak. and not steam

hi james yes that is my pc. spofity is working youtube itunes films foobar office windows all great so i think the pc is in working well. Operation Flashpoint off disc works and looks great so im convined that the grphics card is fine. My guess now is that im not installing steam correct because i get bootstrapper not reponding then do a fresh install and get games freeze up then reapir and get them not lauching its not one common fault. in 2 weeks i have not been able to play 3 games switch the pc off turn on next day and it work. shall i just wait for windows 8.1 update

i dont mind problem solving mup but i cant see how hard it should be install steam there should be a box what os i have bingo. then download the game bingo. then you should just have to set the graphic levels you want and play your game no harder. its gutting i feel like crying really i was looking forward to steam and saved £600 to get this pc

This is how steam works, Im not sure what your issue is. Did you run as admin like others said?

no i dont think i do it auto starts on pc booting up so should i take the auto start off and then right click the steam logo and run as admin each steam
