And it's pretty much the first time "in ages" that I don't have to install cracks for everything, as Steam games don't need DVDs in the drive or other stupid things. Plus all the other conveniences, of course.
And no, no "installation repairs" or anything. They might be a bit slow on bugs that they don't consider important, but having to fix things after playing a game probably would be considered important, and thus get fixed soon.
also, have you tried running in compatibility mode for windows 7, seeing as most games were made for win 7 not win 8

i too have never had problems with steam, gmod will crash when i play on mac, but thats because it has a memory leak. and not steam
This is how steam works, Im not sure what your issue is. Did you run as admin like others said?
