Help, PC thinks I'm using a joystick!
When I check with joy.cpl, it shows that I have a USB to Serial controller with 32 buttons that are pressed on their own randomly. Basically I can't play any games that have a joystick option because of this,

Check device manager and remove it from there.

I can't really tell which port it is, I have to disable every usb one by one :/ Isn't there any other way of fixing this?

I have my doubts that It could be from the UPS.

Hmm, that's pretty weird.
You've never conneted a joystick? or..
Also, what is joy.cpl?

As for a fix, as canti said, can't you remove it in the Device Manager?
And most games have an option to select if you are using a joystick or keyboard, it's weird that you're unable to play any games since most games dont even support controllers.

Many games switch to using gamepad controls if they detect a button press.
Leave checking the USB controllers until last, first you should be checking HID's and other input-oriented categories.

Joy.cpl is for game controllers, you can type it in your start menu (win7) or Run (older).
I do have a controller, when plugged it gets detected as its own device. I've tried unplugging everything and its still there under the name USB to Serial.

Well, I know that you've got to download a program to switch your controller input to keyboard input to be able to play a lot of games with a controller.

But well, that just depends on which games you play.

As for the issue at hand, maybe installing a program which is normally used to change your controller input into keyboard input would work to switch it back, sort of speak. Might be a temporary fix? But.. since you're not really using a joystick I don't know if that might work.
Although such a program might also have an option to select wether or not you want to use your joystick/controller, which might be able to also stop your virtual joystick from working.

Never used such a program myself. though.
