Mandatory Registration to Other Sites
I got the Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion Beta. Played it and loved it. Full game got released and I still loved it. I come back after a few months and NOW i have to register with Stardock Games or it wont let me play the game. Why? Why would they do this? I know everyone is harping about anti-piracy, but couldn't they just run a verification program through Steam? I don't want to register my game. No one ever really registers their game. That window pops up and people click "not right now" and "never show this again." Steam knows I have bought the game legally. Cant they do the check and send it to Stardock?

I am one of those people whole likes to consolidate their games in one spot. That's why I like Steam. I don't want to have to register with or download ten different programs/sites in order to play a game. EA got me with Mass Effect 3 (was not offered on steam so I am okay with it). I now have 2 download managers. I bought Anno 2070 on steam installed it and found out i needed to download and install Ubisoft's download manager to play it... What? I need a download manager in a download manager to play a game?

So now I have 3 download managers and from what I have read I will need to get a 4th one in order to play Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. Where will the insanity stop?

Yeah, but I still want to play this game. The Registration Process is litterally shutting the game down if I do not register. I have 2 button options: Register or Quit. It's simply idiotic.

You do not need to download the "download manager" for Sins. All you need to do is create an account with Stardock who are the devs. Some players did not use Steam to buy initialy and bought their game from Stardock's website hence why this exists. They make other software programs which is why they also use this method, consolidating all their users for better support.

Its really a non issue for me unless you are bad at managing accounts. The game uses steamworks which is not GFWL or always online, so dont try to claim this is draconian DRM.

I am not claiming it's draconian DRM or it was not my intention to claim that. I just don't understand why you have things like that for game purchased through Steam. I understand store bought games and I am okay with that. But why would you require it for a game purchased through a legitamate company like Valve. On top of that, not letting me play the game after having already played it. I could understand this practice if I was to attempt to use the game online. I would be fine with it there, but on the initial start-up? So I can even play on single player by myself? What about people who have sporadic internet or cant get online because of repair work in the area or something? I tried playing while in offline mode which can sometimes get around that, but it still showed up.

To me it seems like unnecessary hoops to jump through and yes I do have a hard time managing my accounts because I have to have so many of them. I try to keep it small and simple.
