What games can I play?

What good games could I play with this? I'd like to play Garry's Mod and Battlefront 2, so could I run those? And if not, what are some good games that I can maybe play until I can get a PC?

Hey,
You might be able to run those but with older integrated graphics it's sort of hit or miss and you just got to try it to know.

This is a really cheap PC that can run those things on Integrated graphics (512 MB dedicated) and can also be upgraded to use a dedicated GPU.

whats the gpu on the system?

if its an intel gma series gpu, it cant run any 3d games made within the last 10 years
quake3 or or the orig hl games would be fine, but no source games (hl2, garrys mod, portal ect..)
bf2 would be pushing it, the cpu is good enough, but gpu is lacking alot

flash and browser games would be fine with it

True but with a Intel graphics card that old and no way to upgrade video card he NEEDS a new build. He didn't even have to ask, I saw a need, I tried to help.

I agree that anything you can run on there will be pretty limited.

You can run many modern games on it. Even up to the medium quality in some cases. And even more games if you don't mind to have < 20 FPS.
But why do you need so much RAM? Very unbalanced config...

It's an OEM system, they just throw lots of RAM and big drives in them and say it's good and people buy it because they don't know any better. If they did they wouldn't be buying an HP.

No it does not look good, I assume you're paying about $500-600 USD for that right? for $600 USD you could build something with a dedicated GPU instead of the iGPU in the A10 and it would wipe the floor with that HP.

How much are you paying for that? I make you a build for cheaper and better I bet. You just have to put the parts together.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm not exactly sure what PC I'm getting yet, sorry for taking so long to respond. I don't just want a gaming pc, I kind of want an all around computer that is capable of playing games at decent graphics, not max. Average ya know? I should be heading out this weekend to look around a bit, so I'll try to keep you's guys updated.

You should really build your own.

Then you can build a perfectly balanced PC. Almost all OEMs do not do that. They usually skimp on the graphics card or other components or they cost a whole lot.

Building your own will give better quality and bettter price.

My point is you can always get both better quality and price by building your own. Also then it will be custom to suit your needs.

Why do you think? They cost more money and use worse parts. The guys making them are in business, they cut corners and they charge extra for their services and customer handling and advertising. You could skip all that, do some simple work yourself, save some money and get better quality.

It's just that building your own will always be better, there is no competition between home built and prebuilt systems. They are far apart either in price or quality because the people selling pre-builts charge you money for all the things they do. Things like building the computer and buying the parts, but also things like telephone & chat customer service, advertising, branding and whatever premium mark-up they think they can wring from you.

Building your own the only thing you have to pay for is buying the parts, everything else you do for yourself and do not need to pay extra for.

Unless you are rich enough to buy the nicest consumer computer on the market and still have money you want to waste it simply does not make sense to buy a prebuilt and lose out on performance or savings instead of doing it yourself and getting a better deal.

If you have to work for your money or have a limited amount of it then work to build your own PC because it really is worth it.
