Steamworks Developer Badge?
Hello, I saw that some popular YouTubers like
UberHaxorNova (http://steamcommunity.com/id/paragonnova)
and ImmortalHD (http://steamcommunity.com/id/ImmortalHD)
had a new Steamworks developer badge and I was just curious on how they got it, in the description is says game developer but I doubt with having to make tons of videos that they could made a game...
All info helps :)
Thanks :ss13ok:

I hate to necro this thread... but I would love some help myself. I'm not interested in how to get the badge, I'm just interested in finding out HOW I got the badge. I'm not a developer, nor a parter with Steam. I only just found out today that I have the badge, even though I have apparently had it since May.

Pretty sure you can get it for being even a small part of a development team. Like a tester. I've heard of that happening, though never experienced it myself.

Judging by your post history, around May, you were actively testing "World of Guns". Maybe you were rewarded for that?

I'm not affiliated with any dev team either... the closest I've ever been to a tester was doing beta testing for World of Guns, but to get access to the beta we just had to email the devs with our steam name, and the beta only lasted about a week. I feel as though it may possibly be a bug.

EDIT: Just noticed your edit now, that may be the reason, although it seems weird to be rewarded something that's somewhat exclusive just for participating in a beta. It's not a big deal of course, it just seems weird to me that's all :)

Ya, looking through this topic:

Some other non-dev accounts posting in that forum have the badge as well. Likely the source is that testing involvement.

Yup, I just looked through a beta thread myself and noticed that, it still seems strange to me, but at least now I know where it came from :)

Yeah, I've heard of 2 cases where devs were giving out the badge to testers. It is strange and confusing to others. A few of them abused the fact they had a dev badge to trick others.

As tempting as it is to make the dev badge a featured badge on my profile, this is the reason I'm not doing it - I don't want people thinking I'm something that I'm not xD

Your profile's private, so people wouldn't see it anyway :)

The featured badge is the one that's seen when you hover over someone's username, isn't it? As well as the user's Steam level. Or does that box not pop-up for private profiles?

Private profiles do not have a detailed box, it says you're "Level 0" instead of the detailed information.

I don't see anything when I hover over your name. Other than level 0 and your avatar.

Is it allowed to ask a Game Devloper to add me to Devlopers if I did like 'Graphics design' or beta testing?, thats just to get the Steamworks badge

Valve recently conducted a purge in the ranks of the imaginary developers - hopefully now will be less scammers, undercover icon developer, distributing insider information, and just icons collectors

I'm a developer and I was kicked from the SteamWorks group. Is this because I don't have that badge?
