error code 53 (SOLVED!)
i just bought portal 2 and steam downloaded it fine. when i clicked to play steam said it had to "complete the installation". when the percent hits 100% it gives me a message saying "steam servers are too busy. please try again later.(error code 53)". so when i went to do the steps that steam said would fix this problem, they didn't work! Does anyone know how to fix this?

I find that restarting your computer after update negates the error code 53 (because the error only presents itself after an update).

You could try disabling the real-time-scan of your anti-virus. This helped me at least.

This drove me nuts for days, I tried the real-time-scan disabling on the ant-virus, and that fixed it.
