need help with logitech headset set up

howdy guys! im new to steam and am not exactly sure if this is the correct forum for this question. if not, please forgive my noobieness!

anyway, i have a logitech headset that plugs into my computer via USB (not headset jack). i also recently purchased some very nice speakers for my desktop just yesterday. problem is, when i plug in the mic to engage in voice chat, it mutes the speaker sound and the sound begins to play through the headset. is there a way to disable audio coming out of the headset while the speakers are turned on?

better yet, can i make it to were the audio would kick back ON through the headset, once i turn off the speakers? any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you're on windows: press the windows button and type in "Sound". Click the one that is in the control panel and set your speakers to the default device under playback.

okay, i successfully disabled the headphone output, but now even when the speakers are off, the headphones dont play sound. is there a way to make the headphones play sound when the speakers are not on?
