Using your steam account on two different computers
How can you have your steam account running on two computers in the same household. I have a desktop and a laptop. I just recently got my wife into gaming and there are times where I want to play games on the desktop while and she wants to play something on the laptop. Steam logged my out and told me that the account was in use. This is just going to cause trouble in my household.

It should be common sense that she would need her own account. Why would they allow the same account to be logged in more than once? She needs her own account and she will have to buy any games you want to play together.

You cannot be logged in to the same account on multiple computers at once, this is by design. Perhaps your wife should set up a Steam account for herself?

As facedown just said, she's going to need her own account with her own games if you want to play together. However, if she doesn't need to be online, her side can be put in offline mode so you can play your side online.

I will keep this in mind. While hers need to be online, not all mine do. I am not a big multiplayer game type guy so when I buy a game I don't intent to play online with others. We sit down at the same computer when we want to enjoy a game together and one of us watches the other play.

Then simply reverse what I said. Put your side offline while her side is online. But just remember that you still need to do the updates, which requieres online.

First of all, he already did (no sharing). Second, it's not like Valve really cares as long as he doesn't sell it.

He tried but was not successful. Then you told him a way around it. That type of thing can get you a forum ban or worse.

No, he was successful: " You may not reveal, share or otherwise allow others to use your password or Account."

Valve has already stated that more than one family member can use a Steam account as long as it is one person at a time. What now?

I can't find anything in the TOS that says you can't put your family member offline while you're online. That might be an extention of your statement, since the other isn't truly "using" the account at the same time, just getting access to the games.

Play dumb if you want but attempting to have 2 people use the same account at the same time is certainly against rules. I am sure you know that but act dumb if you want for the sake of discussion.
