Steam game shortcuts open Internet Explorer? Help!
Ok so today I downloaded Operation 7, a free to play game. Not from steam. I right clicked the icon when it was done installing and selected properties then chose Internet Explorer to open it because it opens with a browser (not Chrome which I use). After I did that, all my steam game shortcuts turned to an Internet Explorer icon and now opens the browser and asks a million questions before it will start the game. Even when I go to steam and select the game and send shortcut to desktop it has the same icon and effect. The only way I can get the icons to work properly is to go all the way to the Steam folder and create a shortcut from the game launcher. I've searched but can't find a similar situation. If anyone can help me solve this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

Having same issue, shame that no one responded to this

I wish I could remember how I fixed this issue. I had to do some extensive research on the problem and tried a few suggestions on google. I think you have to right click something and change how programs open. For some reason everything was linked to the browser to open after setting that one thing to open with a browser.

I actually fixed it, since I just recently had the issue, I just restored my computer to a day ago, fixed it

So gladly I fixed it myself, I did a bunch of looking around but nothing worked, so I thought might as well just restore my PC to a day ago

This would have saved you from having to restore: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2087-MZES-9065

It wasn't really a big deal, took me 10 minutes, only changed the issue, which is good, nothing else was different.

I know this is 9 years later but if anyone else is having this problem if you right click on the icon and click "create shortcut" it should make another shortcut that looks like how it used to and then you can delete the messed up shortcut.
