Short ver - Don't Go To Walmart For A Wallet Card! They Don't Wanna Sell Them To You! -

We have 2 Walmarts here and both hide the damn cards in the back stock room. They are not even on display! Making me look like an idiot when I ask for one. I have to keep my card now just as proof I bought one there before so that they can scan it and be like "Oh... we do carry those"
Then just today they couldn't even find where they had hidden them! Really dont care other then I am gonna miss a game thats on sale. Only went to Walmart cause they are open 24/7 and I can't get one from Bestbuy or Target or Gamestop for another 10 hours.

It's not a conspiracy. It's just incompetence on the part of your local walmarts. There is a giant rack of gift cards at my walmart and steam, ms, sony, amazon, greendot, facebook, etc are all there.

They hide them because ti hurts their business. Walmart relies on selling physical copies of everything. Games, books, movies, music, etc. Services like Steam and iTunes and Amazon take a huge bite out of their profits. They don't want to sell what's killing them.

you don't see them pulling the restaurant gift cards because they do sell food too , so with your logic you could say they need to hide those too cause it'll hurt their food sales...plus wal-mart doesn't even have a decent PC game selection...it's a joke...

Ya they do the same for Sony stuff, I bought station cash there once, then went back and they said "we never sold that here" making me look like im some kind of moron. Go to gamestop man, I am sure you will have no issues picking one up there.

mine carries a few but really only the top selling games , the really popular ones...other then that there's really nothing to be had at wal-mart PC wise.

Walmart does its very small area for PC games. The one where I live has been the same for a while, top rack cheap 10 buck games from 2 decades ago, 1 rack dedicated to WoW and Starcraft. Couple casino slot games and Simulator type games for pc. Gamestop has ok selection just mainly New Release PC games, but the only problem that I have with buying PC games from there is that they open the boxes and take promotions out of the product so I choose to either browse steam or elsewhere online.

Wal-mart does carry them but nobody knows where to find them without the UPC code. So if anyone else is at Wal-mart and needs a $20 Steam Wallet Card give them this UPC # 799366010265 and they should be able to find it.

So how exactly is Steam forcing them to sell those cards? And why does this blackmailing or "gun to your head" or whatever not force them to actually put them on display?

For this, it would also be interesting to know how much a shop gets from selling a $20 game vs. selling a $20 Steam card. Walmart surely isn't selling their OWN games, after all.

Gamestop has them on display but you don't even need to bring the card up, they just type some thingy in on their whatyamacallit and the code is printed on your receipt.
