Failed to Contact Key Server??
Purchased Ace Combat: Assault Horizon and im getting the "Failed to Contact Key Server" error message. I'm assuming steam ran out of keys during the sale as all my other games work fine, bit of a shame; but these things happen, i'm just wondering how long i have to wait before im issued with my key?

Steam Bot Support gave me an answer: they have no more keys and we have to wait for a new key supplying from Namco.
But when do they get the keys?

My problem is the way STEAM handles this situation, at work when a stock-out occurs we contact the customer and explain the situation, provide them with a (possible) ETA and allow them to either opt out of sale for a full refund or store credit and i can tell you (99.9%) wait for re supply!

This is simple wholesale business not rocket science. The error message above could indicate a number of possible issues... so what do we do? troubleshoot?, assume? post in the forums? [THIS IS ALL WE CAN DO!]

Instead of leaving us here in the dark STEAM should just be upfront and say hey; we have run out of keys we're sorry....its not really that difficult; they could code an automated response that serves this purpose for minimal cost..

The [Failed to Contact Key Server] is not just an error message, it is an example of extremely poor customer service!! Maybe is should post this in the suggestion area instead of help and tips????? :steamwings:

I have managed to play the game without a key code. If you go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Ace Combat Assault Horizon and run Ace Combat_AH.exe you should be able to play the game. When the Games for Windows Live 'enter your key' prompt comes up, press escape and you will be able to continue regardless. I can only assume that a grace period will entail. Hopefully long enough before Steam get more keys.

Good, game works good and saves without problems. I keep play in this way :P
Still waiting. It should take just a few minutes for Namco to generate more keys.

No grace period. It will just prevent you from playing online or getting achievements etc. I lost my key for Street Fighter IV ages ago, and every time I install it, I skip the key process and play in offline mode. Been doing so for a few years now.
Got my key this morning, still i think there is some room for improvement with error messages, instead of displaying "[Failed to Contact Key Server]" (Which could mean any number of issues!) how about displaying "[Key Allocation Limit Reached], We apologise for any inconvience and appreciate your patience and hope to have this issue rectified soon" STEAM would it really be that hard to implement? FOOD FOR THOUGHT!

i just downloaded ff 11 and says failed to contact key server what does that mean?
