I'm new to PC Gaming, What games should I buy/start with?

I'm not new to Steam because I play TF2 sometimes but I'm new to the whole PC gaming thing. Any recommendations as to what game's I should start off with? Any gems that you may know that other's might not?

Ditto on Just Cause 2 and Psychonauts. The "Thief" series is pretty good. Skyrim is also a PC favorite. The Deus Ex series of games are good as well.
