Buying multiple 'card' games only gives you one card?
I just bought FTL and Magicka which are both flagged as being carded games but I only received the one card for the purchases. Unfortunately, it seems that if I were to buy them separately and checkout twice, I'd have got two cards.

Is that right or should buying two carded games at once also give you two cards in the same way buying the same two separately appears to?

you need to have spent $20 to get both cards.
Ohhhh, thanks Hoover.
The card icon doesn't denote that you get a card from buying that game. Rather, it implies that the game has a set of cards which drop while playing the game. The Steam sale cards drop whilst buying stuff from the Steam store, one every 10 USD spent.
But are those cumulative between different purchases, or only between itens in your cart? So I could, for example: buy a 5 USD game today, another 10 USD tomorrow, and another 6 USD the day after tomorrow and still earn 2 cards?

Can someone clairfy how the card drops - I've gotten like 3-4 cards but god help me I don't remember them dropping...
There are three ways for cards to drop:

1. Constructing a badge -- this will grant you one card

2. Purchasing ~10 USD of games from the shop -- this will grant you one card

3. Voting 3 times in the community choice votes (you have to be level 5 in order to get cards, and cards will be retroactively given upon reaching level 5) -- this will get you one card.

Listen to Sloppy Seconds. He knows what he's talking about :D

Hoover's right. At the bottom of the checkout page, you'll notice a progress meter that represents your progress towards another card drop in addition to a message indicating whether you'll receive a card for the current purchase.

So yes, at 0% progress, one $5 purchase won't grant you anything but a subsequent $5 purchase will.

Actually, it's approximately $10. There's a small footnote there that mentions it. I made a purchase that was three cents shy of $10 and still earned a card. That would be pretty lame if they didn't though. Can you imagine one $9.99 game = no card? I shudder just thinking about the potential backlash.
