Using a MOGA controller in Steam Big Picture?
I recieved my MOGA Pro controller (an Android controller) yesterday and I’m very pleased with it; it works very good. But I also wanted to try if it would work with my PC.

So, I put the controller in HID mode and I was able to connect it with my pc. Windows even recognized it as a HID controller.
Next, I started Steam in Big Picture mode. It recognized my controller as a controller, but the keys were a bit messed up. So I went to the settings to do a new key mapping. I was able to map all keys except the L2 and R2 buttons. For some reason they weren’t recognized by Steam or my PC. I also wasn’t able to map a home key, because the controller simply has none (although I can maybe use that weird connect button, but I don't know if that one is included in the HID).

But, I still wanted to see if it would work with a game, so I launced a full controller supported game from Steam, but it didn’t worked. I don’t know if Steam cancelled the controller input because I haven’t mapped all keys (no trigger buttons) or because it doesn’t work for some other reason.

But the strange thing is: the controller does work in the Steam Big Picture itself (except the R2 and L2 of course, see a paragraph above), but it doesn't work in the games.

So, I would like to ask if anyone knows any solution for this or can make the MOGA work with Steam (or a PC in general) too. In the end, I find it a bit strange that there are 2 buttons not working; it's HID mode so that should be a standard. I know the MOGA is an Android controller, but it would be amazing to use it as a PC controller too. So, it would be a 2in1 device :D

I've been able to use my Moga Pro in HID mode in Steam Big Picture but the L2/R2 triggers do not work because the Windows HID driver doesn't even recognize them...I guess moga made them different or the Windows HID driver doesn't have support for them. If someone were to make an HID driver for the Moga Pro in windows it should allow steam to work with it. I had to map my keys in steam big picture and also in the game's key remap configuration to allow it to work but still without L2/R2 trigger support. :( I too wish there was a solution to this.

I should also note that the controller uses directinput so you might need to run an app like x360ce in the applications directory inside C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ to create the xinput1_3.dll which is read by the game upon launching it. That x360ce program doesn't need to be running after you created the xinput1_3.dll. The dll is read by the game and used to convert the directinput into xinput which is pretty much the standard (xbox360) controller input. I've used that program fine with my playstation 2 dualshock on an usb adapter to make it work with games that support only xinput (xbox360) games on my PC....none of this will help make the L2/R2 triggers work on the moga pro however but I'm hoping someone will figure out some creative way to make it work in HID mode (mode B) so we can have windows see the triggers. Because if windows can see them, then the x360ce can create a xinput dll which takes care of the rest and allows games to see them.

BTW, the 'weird connect button' isn't a guide button. If you hold it down 3 seconds after the moga fell asleep it will wake it back up and attempt to reconnect. It does pretty much the same thing as turning off the moga via the switch and back to the mode you were in. It isn't a button recognized as a guide button and neither is the button on the back of the moga which just lights up the letter buttons. So no guide button for us but it is a really nice controller nonetheless.
