AppHangB1, FIXED!!!!!
Iv seen many posts on AppHangB1 error and i found the solution, well it worked for me.

1.Go to your Steam folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam

2.Just delete every folder, program and file EXCEPT for Steam.exe and steamapps

3.Restart your PC,After restarted do not try to open Steam from any shortcuts or your toolbar, instead go back to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam and open the Steam.exe and it will re-install all the components deleted and Steam will open with no errors if steam opens by itself when you start windows it is ok.

Hope this helps.

Great! It's unbelieveable, but it really works. Thanks.
It sounds like problem with steam and 64bit systems or something, because I've updated windows from 32 to 64bit, it worked before, but now it didnt.... It started shutting down after I've started Dota 2 first time on reinstalled PC. Anyway thanks.

I hope this helps, I've had the application hang error and kernelbase.dll errors for 3 days and couldn't manage to find a fix until now. Here is what worked for me: after doing a clean install of new gfx card drivers I let G-Force Experience optimize my game (BL2) and viola !!! I'm back to Pandora. Previously, the game would let me load it up and play for about 20 seconds then "Borderlands2 version blah, blah, blah stopped interacting with Windows and closed". Silly fix, but it worked. Just hope my experience with this problem/fix helps some frustrated someone out there. I read all kinds of stuff in forums, google and really anything I could find pertaining to a similiar problem. The brain kicked in and I started thinking outside the box, this was discovered due to checking the settings in the Nvidia control panel to see what took priority over the Physx software, GPU or CPU. It just made me think... I wonder if it'll work ...I'll try it...and it did. Thank God.

when i go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam i do not have a folder named steam.exe.
i have a folder named steam.exe.old. when you try to open it, it tells you that you do not have the right tools. can anybody tell me if i am looking at the right folder?

It's not a folder, it's a file. What's the file directly above steam.exe.old ?

above steam.exe.old there is a application named steam. when you click on it my store page on steam pops up

Yep, that's steam.exe .

Delete everything besides that and the steamapps folder, restart your PC, and then launch Steam.

Sooo when I browse local files where this game is (I use multiple directories) I only see the SteamApps folder and the steam.dll file. Nothing else to delete as per the suggestion.
