GTA San Andreas - Lowrider hydrolics and forklift trouble

San Andreas has always been an old favorite of mine. I just downloaded it today and started playing. I've only played GTA on console before, so it should be alot more fun this time around.

Anyway, I got to the mission "Cesar Vialpando", the one with the lowrider contest thing. I was pressing the arrows, but I kept failing. I tried to look up the solution elsewhere and I found out the num pad was the thing to use for that. However, I have a laptop and as such I have no numpad. I tried the regular number keys, and yet again, nothing.

Same kind of issue came about in the mission "Robbing Uncle Sam". Everything went smoothly until I got to the forklift. Couldn't figure out how to lift the damn thing.

And so, hopelessly confused I decided to post here, in the hopes of learning how the hell to get past these missions. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I figured it out. I'm now stuck at that Toy helicopter mission. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse than the toy plane....
