Games freeze when i start

Ok guys my games keep freezing, for example on gMod i click find multiplayer session and it freezes me i have to do Ctrl-Alt-del to exit it, and same for counter strike: source when i a find a game it freezes me. Is there anything to fix this? im on a Windows 7 Premium, Intel Celeron and this has never happened to me on my other laptop

They put something in the update that blocks the video card, after the game freezes i can not give orders and to show something on the screen until i close the game through task manager. Come on man let's do something to fix it !

I kind of lose you after that, i wish i could help you help me but i'm not pc wise, after freezing and forcing task manager i found PID under services, which file though? i see a steam client listed, that has no PID and is listed as 'stopped'.

I have an AMD Sempron(tm) 145 processor, 4GB memory, Radeon HD 6570.

I notice the problem is not just TF2, my brother tried to play Gmod on this pc and froze when looking for multiplayer, i wondered if it was a source problem but CS:GO works(unfortunatley i never got into that gamei love TF2).

I've tried steam support but for some reason it wants me to comfirm my e-mail over and over(it IS correct) but i'm not getting the email to comfirm it.

I hope some of this helps(probabley not but live in hope of getting my TF2 fix soon).

The same thing is happening to me, though it mostly freezes when I try to load servers, not right at the startup. I don't know if that's the same problem, but it is frustrating. I am not computer savvy, so I'm not sure how much information I can give you, especially because I didn't even know how to access the PID info.

Run in the window: cd "\Program Files (x86)\Steam"
Run in the window (replace [pid] with the game pid): WriteMinidump.exe [pid] gamehang.mdmp
Once you do that email me the resulting .mdmp file at jmccaskey at valvesoftware.com and we'll take a look at it. We're trying to identify why a small number of users seem to be affected by this when we can't reproduce it at all and it wasn't reported while the client update was in beta.

i get this message when trying to do the minidump thing: 32 bit dump tool called for 64 bit target, running 64 bit dump tool. after that the program just closes. I am running Win xp

it cant be video cards and such because im playing Just Cause 1, New Vegas, and Civ 5 which have all worked in the past but now they just freeze. making me pissed.
