Download and install drivers manually. Steam auto updater updates Steam, not your video drivers.

no the check for video fdriver updates says i have none
What check for video drivers are you referring to? Do you know what video card you have?

go to your top left of steam client and click steam then on the drop down menu press check for video driver updates
I have done that and it opens the Nvidia driver download page for me but the driver is not the correct one for my computer so I have to find it manually.

DO you know what video card you have and do you have more than one GPU? May computers have 2 these days.

no its only 1 and its a 7950 HD Radeon card
So you should have version 13.4 installed. Is that correct?

to be 100% honest i dont know how to check
If you do not know how to check then I suspect you do need to update your drivers but do not know how to do it. Either ignore the warning or read the information on AMD's website on how to update the video drivers and update them.
