Steam Desktop shortcuts wrong size

I have custom icons on almost all my desktop shortcuts, however randomly the shortcuts to steam games bug out. Instead of displaying large/256x256 pixel icons, they show same icons as medium/48x48, with the border that size icons get when displaying them as large.

I've done a screenshot ( http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/8121/wti.png ), where you can see the issue. The Marvel Heroes icon was the same size and "look" as the torchlight 2 icon yesterday, but for some reason today, it's smaller with a border.
This does not fit in on my desktop ><

The only solution I've found, has been to recreate all the custom icons, which will then work.
I just cba recreating lots of icons all the time -_-

Anyone heard of this/experienced this?

Windows 7, 32-bit, no, Catalyst.
However, wouldn't this happen to all shortcut icons, and not just steam related shortcuts?
Also, I noticed after making the thread, that the issue is quite inconsistent.
The MH shortcut used the "default" icon, I didn't replace it, and it bugged. However, I did change the icon of my Tribes: Ascend (Steam) shortcut, yet that was left intact.

Steam caching issue. This happened to me after removing Steam and reinstalling it.
