Game already owned
My friend wanted to gift a game to me but it said: ''Already owning this game'' even tho i don't have this game. Somebody got a fix?

Is it in your steam library, that may cause it

I have exactly the same problem
I have just bought a Left 4 Dead 2 - 4 player pack and I can't send a copy to a friend of mine, probably because of the free weekend for L4D2.
How can he remove the trial copy from his library?

If it's installed he should just remove it. Otherwise I dont know, maybe trade him the gift over steam and then he can activate it?

I still can't trade lol
Anyway can I email him the gift even if he has already got an account?

I dont know, but why cant u trade yet, new account?

in order to trade you have to wait 30 days from the first time you buy something
i'd have to wait 1 month from now lol

Wait until the Free Weekend is over to have the gift transferred.

Steam will say you own the game until the Free Weekend is over because during the Free Weekend you do have the use of the game license.

You also need to have Steam Guard activated and have had it activated for at least 15 days (in case you didn't know).

Im agreeing, but it doesn't make much sence. If it doesn't let you gift a game to someone and says they own it, surely it should also say it if the person tries to buy it from the store themselves? If this is the case does EVERYONE have to 'add to inventory' rather than 'add to library' on free weekend sale items? I know what people are like, i'd expect to see a few "im trying to buy this, but it says i own it" posts at least.

You can just buy it during the weekend sale, but appreantly gifting doesnt work. I bought it this weekend btw

Can't i just email him the gift even if he already has a steam account?

An easier way would be to keep the game in your inventory until the free weekend is over and then trade/gift it after.
