Steam error when attempting to link Youtube Account
I have a youtube channel and videos on it.. so why do I continually get an error when trying to link my youtube account to my steam profile?? I tried looking up information about it and people have been having trouble since 2011. Does the feature not work??

Anyone have any idea what's up?

It works perfectly fine with my youtube account. Do you own a domain in which the account is hosted? That may be part of the problem.

I don't think so.. Just using a regular old youtube account.

- I click Link Youtube Account
- Sign into youtube with the google sign-in
- "An anonymous blah blah is trying to access blah blah" - I Grant Access
- Steam: "There was an error accessing YouTube to retrieve your username. Please try again."

I thought maybe it was a fluke, but it's been doing this for weeks.

Well, idk. I wish I could help. If its just a normal free YouTube account then I have no clue.

I took a new gmail account into youtube to start a new channel and was able to link that.
Anyone having this problem, I would recommend a brand new account.

Thanks for the help, Renzbo.

I had a similar problem, but the error said something about not able to link to my Youtube account name.

Adding useless coment for achieve too.

I got a solution for this problem.

The issue is that Steam is trying to retrieve your Google+ account instead of your YouTube.

1. Make sure you have created a YouTube channel if you haven't already.

2. While on your YouTube channel (Make sure you are not on you Google+ account..this is important). Go to Setting and scroll down the page.

3. Stop where it says "Third party tools." There should be your YouTube email which looks something like this "xxxxxx-xxxxx@pages.plusgoogle.com"

4. Create a password.

5. Go to steam and link your account. When asked to log in. Use the email above and password that you created (Not your Google+ email). You should now have your account linked!!

Hope this end the frustration. Good luck!
