If I bought a CD key from AU/UK website, can I activate it and play in NA through steam?
I want to get a Rome II Total War CD Key from a website based in UK or another website based in AU because it is cheaper. If i buy it and activate it will it be region locked or anything?

Well, i'm not sure, but i think its a stupid idea to buy steam games from other websites, there is sometimes games you can put on steam even if you have the steam cd key, i have tryed that with F.E.A.R. I would personally say you should buy the games on steam, you can always wait untill there is some sale going on.

It's far from stupid. There are many legit websites such as Gamersgate (formerly owned by Paradox Interactive), Green Man Gaming, Getgamesgo (Owned by eurogamer), Impulsedriven (owned by Gamestop), and Gamefly (formerly Direct2Drive) that sell games that come with Steam keys and can often be cheaper than buying from Steam itself.

As for the OPs question - Generally speaking yes normally there is no problem with doing that. Typically it's only the Russian region countries that have the region locks. Or sometimes Germany.

However there is no real way of knowing for any specific game from any specific website without actually trying it. You should also be wary about the dodgy websites that often do sell region locked keys then tell you to use a VPN to activate them.

The only thing with AU keys is that AU generally hasa 'censored' versions of games. So that might not be all that great.

Never used Nuuvem myself but have bought quite a few from Green Man Gaming who are good. They often have voucher codes which will stack with any sale prices aswell.

In Total War: Rome II's case though it's not on sale so it's just the 25% voucher code (expires 1st July) GMG25-BAWQB-8UQWG
