Steam Trading Cards - Can you earn them offline?
This is basically as the title suggests, I'm wondering as to whether these new trading cards that can be earned in-game can be earned whilst not connected to the Steam servers. Does anyone know?

Probably not. At least I wouldn't think so. If you can't get achievements offline, I would assume the same goes for trading cards.
Well, that's not entirely true, I have earned acheivements whilst playing offline, but I am doubting that trading cards can happen offline. This is purely out of curiosity!

No you can't. You need to be connected to Steam servers to update you inventory while the game is running. If you are offline, technically you are not "playing" a game, so no cards while using offline.

You still earn achievments while playing offline, but you dont get to earn the card drops...

Go there, see how many card drops you have available for your games. You cannot earn drops unless you are online and playing. Steam has to know you are playing the game, so you have to be connected to Steam.

.
Steam screwed this up. I'm poor polish student so I can't buy newest games. More, my computer have problems with Internet connection, so many times I must play online. Trading cards is my last card to buy games. Puck.

Steam didn't screw anything up. Steam isn't a charity, they aren't out to give every poor person free games and items.
