That said, user reviews are absolutely worthless. People will rate a game a 1 / 10 because they forgot to plug in their keyboard. Utter nonsense.
EDIT: Yes, the Metacritic score is an average of online reviews from a decent number of sites. How trustworthy they are is subject to debate.
I would be a little disheartened if i saw that about my Work in Progress game...
but they still choose to put the meta score on the game, instead of waiting for the game to come out and giving a meta score of post release reviews
