I don't think there is a way to see your download update. But there is a way to see previous updates of a game. Go to your Steam Library and right click on a game from your list. Then select View News. You'll be going to a page with news and posts of the game. at the right side you can click some things. Click on Product Updates and you got yourself a list of the previous updates of a game and what has been changed.

EDIT:

you can see your download history.. but only before you close Steam. to do this. go to Library and then click on the arrow on top that says All Games for example. And then select Downloads from the list.

I was very frustrated when I opened steam and it began it's daily game updates. I had 10 updates, but had to restart my computer after a few. When I got back on I saw only 8 updates downloading, thus I had no idea which other 2 games had updated. After a bit of looking around, I figured this out:

1) Go to any one of your games, right-click it and go to properties.
2) Go to the local files tab at the top, click browse local files.
3) It opens a folder titled with the name of the game, click common in the address bar @ top.
4) Now you should see your full list of steam games (local files).
5) Click on the 'Date Modified' filter. This will show you which games were updated most recently. Keep in mind that any updates currently downloading will not appear until they finish.

I hope this helps others. It really isn't a big deal, just one of those annoying little things that happens. Still, for the amount of money that Steam gets from most of us, we deserve the best experience possible. Thankfully, Steam is an excellent company that works on fixes regularly, so hopefully soon they may add a 'Game Update History' tab or something. I just want to see that download list, but rather than for the day, for my whole history! Perhaps, that is too much to ask for, though. I can only hope that this fix helps others in the meantime.

Thank you! That's an easy solution in hindsight.
TLDR; browse to your Steamapps/Common folder and sort by date modified. The date modified will be the last update date.

Great solution :) Wouldn't be too hard for valve to implement that...

Hi, there´s also a nice 3rd party website that has a huge database with all Steam games information (updates sizes, history, etc). You will find it helpful for sure.

so you can't directly see your download history but you can see all the games you have a License on doesn't matter if its for free or was bought. You go to Settings then on Show account Details then Show licenses and product keys and there you have it
