Rage Install

Hey, I bought the original Rage 3 DVD game. I installed it on my PC and Steam picks it up but still wants me to install the full game via download from the Servers!!! How do i play the game without re-installing the dam game!!!!!!!!

It has had many updates since release. It's likely downloading the patches for it.

If I remeber correctly RAGE had some very bug updates after launch becuase their textures got messed up or something. You can disable the option to update your game but that's usually not a good thing.

The trick here is too enter the CD key to activate Rage and once it has been activated, cancel the install. Then pop in the DVD and run the install from the DVD, this way you will install the game from the DVD. Once it is install, it will want to patch the game up which can take some time for rage.

Problem is, that it's probably on SteamPipe now, which means the 'old' stuff that's on the DVD is likely worthless and won't get delta patched.
