Accidently Gifted my friend more games than I mean't to.
(If I can get a comfirmation from a Steam/Valve employee that they %100 can't do anything for me, it would ease me a bit)

I'll just copy/pasta my ticket with all but the last part where it shows his ID.

"I got Counter Strike Source (As a Gift), Half Life and both it's DLC, and Pre-Paid for Saints Row 4.

My friend got his gift, but the other games I bought don't show up in my All Games Menu or in my purchase history.

It did take my money, because I put $100 into my account for those things and it's gone as if I spent it.

I also got the email it usually sends when you buy something.

I restarted steam, re-logged, and also restarted my computer. Nothing works.

I found out that when I bought the games, when I put them all in the cart I thought only counter strike source would become a gift.

Turns out I ♥♥♥♥ed up and it bundled all the games together.

I contacted my friend that I gave them to on skype and he thought I gave him Half life and the DLCs, but I only mean't to give him CS:Source.

Is it possible to just get half life, blue shift and Opposing force back without taking away CS:Source from his account?

I Googled it to see if this happened before, I read that you might not be able to give me back my half life games, while also not giving back counter strike source.

Is it possible to just give back the whole thing and put it in my inventory so I can just re-send just counter strike while putting the rest into my account?

I also accidently gave him Saints Row 4 that I forgot to mention."

Any hope in getting it back or is it known to be impossible? I really screwed myself out of a lot of money.

As long as your friend doesn't activate the games on their account, they can trade and/or gift the games back to you, or just reject the games if they haven't already accepted them.

If they were activated onto your friends account, then you're out of luck unfortunately.

Looks like I'm screwed, he did claim the games thinking I mean't to sent them...

Well... time to feel sorry for myself all week.

So, after you explained the situation to your friend, he didn't offer to send you the same games as a gift? If not, why not?
Origineel geplaatst door Mizzory:
The reason I wanted to send him CS:Source in the first place was because he couldn't afford it on his own and he was missing out when myself and another friend played DarkRP.

I ended up bundling it up into a cart, and for the last one I added (CS:Source) I sent it as a gift. Turns out it sent ALL of them. He accepted and thought that I got some sort of deal on the games and sent them to him, because that's what I usually do when I get a deal on something.

He claimed them, it was my fault and I'm told it can't be undone.
He also put it a longly worded ticket, but I'm not appecting anything to happen since I don't think it's Steam's problem to deal with.

So your friend doesn't have the means to replace the gifts then? That's a tough break.

Hard to argue that Steam should do the same since you got what you paid for and the error was your own. Still, you had good intentions so I hope somehow, this gets resolved in your favor.

Good luck
At least you made your friend happy.
Just say that's his next birthday, Christmas and other birthday combined :)

Unfortunately you're unlikely to get your games back but as Canti pointed out just reassure your friend that his annual/next 10 years are sorted and that you hope he enjoys. We all make mistakes so that we are less likely to make the same ones again. That was very kind of you.

Thanks, but I don't think I really deserve to be helped at this point. My own stupid mistake.

Origineel geplaatst door Mizzory:
He's pretty bummed out and keeps trying to offer what he can. I keep politely refusing.

Well Mizzory, these definitely proves you're the bigger man here. Kudos to you.
If it makes you feel better, I made the same mistake too back in the day when Steam implemented Euro currency, I accidentally purchased and gifted Call of Duty World at War (~50€ at the time) to a Steam friend of mine.
Lesson definitely learnt.

Now, about your problem: I don't wan't to give you false hopes but there might be some chances to get at least SR4 back, being a pre-order.
Your friend should try to contact Steam Support and ask them to remove the title from his library and give it back to you - the one who bought the game in the first place.

Again, being a pre-order, there shouldn't be many problems. There are usually no problems at all when you ask to cancel a pre-order, in this very case the purchase is not even canceled. But I believe your friend's the only one who can take action.
I have seen them reverse transactions for preorders before. They will require you to re-purchase every game included in the original transaction as a gift to keep in your inventory. Then they will refund you the entire transaction. They can't do it on a per-game basis if you bought multiple games with the same transaction. But yes, they are obligated to refund preorders if you request it, it's just a hassle.
Really hope Valve will give them back. Still have yet to reply to my ticket a day later. D:
