Steam not opening or launching

Steam refuses to launch and games won't either. I've tried everything and everything is there! I try to launch it and bootstrapper tasks show up in Task Manager but nothing is actually happening no matter how long i wait. I can't launch games manually either, no clue why. PLEASE HELP. This has been troubling me for days!!

Or Completely exit from the Steam client.
Go to C:\Program Files\Steam (or the Steam directory that was specified during installation).
Locate ClientRegistry.blob and rename this file to ClientRegistryOld.blob.
Restart Steam to allow the file to be recreated.
Test the issue once more.

Or even if this will not Work ,then Go to C:\Program Files\Steam (or the Steam directory that was specified during installation).
Locate steamerrorreporter.exe [ RUN the appication ]
Start Steam !
Test the issue once more.

I have done that but steam still wont launch i am on a mac Version 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. Help?

Its been 3 days. I renamed the blob and steam opened normally in literally 3 seconds. I'm in your debt, thank you

This is probably a bit late because I'm always late. But I noticed that if you close it in task manager then it'll open properly. I guess the logic is that you can't open something that's already opened.

Another thing that will help:
Sometimes applications don't shut down completely, so when you try to open them later, your computer starts opening it, but then reaches the point that the unclosed version is at, stopping there, because it thinks they were the same process.
This is actually the most common problem.
If that was too confusing, or just tl;dr just skip to the next paragraph.

This problem can be instantly solved by simply opening task manager, finding the steambootstrapper, and closing it.

Steam will launch but my games won't - took a windows 8.1 update and now it's saying fatal error "Error during initialization:
Unhandled exception caught" each time I attempt to open any of my games . . . = (

For me, I had a power outage, and nothing would happen when I double clicked Steam (no error message or anything). None of the above solutions worked for me. I just went into task manager, went to the processes tab, and force ended Steam*32. It then started up just fine afterwards.
