Steam not opening or launching
Steam refuses to launch and games won't either. I've tried everything and everything is there! I try to launch it and bootstrapper tasks show up in Task Manager but nothing is actually happening no matter how long i wait. I can't launch games manually either, no clue why. PLEASE HELP. This has been troubling me for days!!

Next time, take a backup of your steamapps folder so you don`t have to download
everything again ;)
Question about that Eagleizer; should I put the backup on an external hard drive or just make a second copy on my computer somewhere? Or does it matter? Not the greatest with computers. Thanks.

You can keep it where you like. You can just move it out of the Steam folder before you
un-install Steam. Then just move it back after you have installed Steam again.

If you have extra space for a backup, there is also a Backup and Reastore function available
from the Steam menu. If you are reading this from the Steam browser, you will find it in the
upper left corner. Just click on Steam, and it is the 4th option in the list.

Cheers :)

Check this https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?s=fc22d499a5ecbdf6585bd76b56838ceb&ref=6057-YLBN-1660

Or Completely exit from the Steam client.
Go to C:\Program Files\Steam (or the Steam directory that was specified during installation).
Locate ClientRegistry.blob and rename this file to ClientRegistryOld.blob.
Restart Steam to allow the file to be recreated.
Test the issue once more.

Or even if this will not Work ,then Go to C:\Program Files\Steam (or the Steam directory that was specified during installation).
Locate steamerrorreporter.exe [ RUN the appication ]
Start Steam !
Test the issue once more.

Hope this will work ! ,Uri™

Hi guys. Who are you?
I try to open up games but anytime I do so it appears that I am in game, but the game does not open. After about five seconds I go from ingame to online.

My Steam games won't open.

Any tips on what to do and how to fix it?

I've tried most of the tips on the suggestions so I don't know what to do now.

For me, I had a power outage, and nothing would happen when I double clicked Steam (no error message or anything). None of the above solutions worked for me. I just went into task manager, went to the processes tab, and force ended Steam*32. It then started up just fine afterwards.
that helped a lot! thank you!

I believe the update is the reason why my steam isn't working

I don't think I have the file...
I'm having this very issue as well. I've looked in my installation folder and haven't found the file specified above. I've looked in taskmgr and there are no processes running for steam until I run the executable and then it's there long enough to show it's attempting to open and the all processes disappear. If I look in services SteamClient is stopped.

The only thing that I have had to do was uninstall my gpu under my Audio sources in Device Manager and reinstall it so I could have sound while connected to the TV through HDMI out provided by the AMD card.
Sometimes i have this problem too, i just restart my notebook and it resolves...
I've tried everything. Restarting, powering off and unplugging, reinstalling. Nothing seems to be working
So i have come back to my pc after a short time away. When i tried to load up Steam i got the usual checking for update like people have said in here, the log in screen for steam pops up and then goes with in 2 seconds, i have looked in event viewer but there is nothing i have removed ccleaner, disabled antivirus and tried to reinstall but im having no luck. I have also tried looking for the .blob file but its not there, im unable to run the steamerrorreporter and there is nothing at all to do with steam running in the cmd prompt. Im hoping some one can help me out

I was having the same problem, then I tried to open a game manually. It said it was blocked by Windows Parental Controls, then I clicked see more. It opened steam immediately.
