Can't load half life 2 episode 2 saves

When I downloaded episode 2 none of the voices were working so i checked out the forums and they said to switch to beta mode in properties and so i did then I started a new game then after i saved and quit i came back and it couldn't load my saves, it just switches to a blurred version of the menu. This is what it says in console when i try to load them.
Loading game from save\half-life-001.sav...
Save file save\half-life-001.sav is not valid
Please help.

I have precisely the same problem, even when I opt out of the Steampipe beta I cannot load saves.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problems. Saved games will not load.

Here's the error from the log loading the autosave:

"Loading game from save\autosave.sav...
Unexpected end of file expanding save game
Save file save\autosave.sav is not valid"

And here's from a regular save:

"Loading game from save\half-life-013.sav...
Save file save\half-life-013.sav is not valid"

Some saves do work, but most do not, and those that do not never do!

Please help

I have same issue!
I had to join steampipe beta due to missing voices.
Added: Some savefiles are working but become corrupted after third chapter.

Same issue here, occurs during chapter This Vortal Coil for me. I can progress fine during the game, but when I die, it just gives me a black screen.. Can't load any [manual,auto,quick] saves, they dump me back into the main menu. I too used Steampipe beta to get voices and facial animation fixed..

I can start a new game though, but it would be madness to try and finish EP2 in one run without dying [and loading savegame] :p

EDIT: I've tried disabling Steam Cloud sync but that didn't help.

EDIT: Varifying game cache integrity turned up nothing.

I really hope this gets fixed soon!

I got this problem today. Everything was fine then now I can't load my quick saves. WHAT THE HELL
How to fix this?
I dont't want to start the game from the beginning.
