gmod stuck at low quality

i just bought a new graphics card but when i run gmod it tries to run at direct x 8 while it can do 11 it tries to set the graphics to nothing ie low or medium while even my old one can do it better also it tries to set my resolution very low i know i can do it with high graphics with my old graphics card i could do it max graphics i know i installed direct x and its the newest version i tried installing it but it wont work help
graphics card: XFX Core Edition HD7850 860MHz 1GB DDR5 2x Mini DisplayPort/HDMI/2xDVI Graphics Card FX785AZNL4

I don't know if you already found the solution for this problem yourself. In case you didn't , you can force gmod to start in DX9mode by adding this command to your launch options : -dxlevel 95 . It should unlock al graphics settings and allow you to play on max , enjoy .

yah i use -dxlevel110 but it just doesnt remember

Garrysmod was not coded for DX 11 so if you are trying to launch it it in dx 9 it would work fine

if i remember correctly my issue was using unsupported settings in my graphics card drivers control panel its been far too long to remember which settings specifically however
