Steam stuck in offline mode
Hi,
I know a lot of people have been complaining about this today, but does anybody know a reason yet as to why steam has kept going into offline mode since the steam update? I've reinstalled a couple of times but it makes no difference. Does anyone have a solution to this?
Thanks!

Click Steam > Settings
At the bottom, tick the "Don't save credentials" box. This will disable offline mode. Restart Steam and see if it works. If it does, try unticking it and see if that has resolved it.
That locked my brother off steam
Had the same problem, ticking the option "Don't save account credentials on this computer" did not fix it.

I deleted the contents of appcache and userdata, steam would connect after this. IDK what data I might have lost but I did not have to reinstall.
try going to settings and disabling directwrite
I have an odd, yet similar problem. My games will not download because I am in offline mode, But I cannot log in. My friends panel said that I was online but couldn't see my friends due to being offline. I had to log out then log in to fix it.

Somebody is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with us. I couldnt get online or play in offline mode because of something. I can't explain it, I don't ordinarilly even play in online mode unless I coop. But This is what I did -

"Windows XP/Vista/7/8

Completely exit the Steam client.
Open the run dialogue by pressing windows key + r (you can also navigate here from the start menu by typing run).
Type steam://flushconfig then press enter. (If asked to allow this website to open a program, please click Allow or OK).
Restart your computer.
Now, launch Steam directly from the installation folder, not from a pre-existing shortcut (~C:\program files (x86)\Steam).
The Steam application will either appear as Steam or Steam.exe depending on whether your settings show file extensions.
"

I only had to run "steam://flushconfig" and hit enter for it to come up and Steam online mode came up. My library is there and my games are there. Aswell as alot of trial-period FTP crap I don't want.

Thaks to FrozenArrow...unless this is just hack/backdoor into my account and he can play online as me. Then it would suck.

Thanks Mate its workk for mee
Figured it out on my own, seems stressful until you find the exact solution to the problem! So glad the fix was in plain sight and I didn't have to go through a long tutorial to fix it, just 1 click of a button!

I thought something like this happened to me but steam servers were just under maintenance, if any of the stuff lister here doesn't work and its Tuesday, servers are just down for maintenance
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
