What is Steam Client?

I want to buy Hitman on sale at GameFly for PC. It says "This title installs and requires the Steam Client to play."

I have no idea what that means. Can anyone help?

The Steam application, which you presumably already have installed since you own games on Steam.

Basically yeah. Once redeemed it will become a Steam game like any other giving you all the benefits (or drawbacks if you're not a fan of Steam).

In the bottom left corner of the Steam client click "+ ADD A GAME..." then click "Activate a product on Steam..." then just follow the instructions.

The Steam client doesn't need to be activated, you just need to start it. Theres no codes on any pages.

To log into the Steam client, you need to download & install it.

So, I have downloaded steam onto my phone. I have created an account and logged in. So far so good, methinks. But when I go my Library where the game I have ordered is, I can see the game, but cannot do anything with it.
When I have asked the support, they say I have to log into Steam Client.
What am I not getting?

That "Download" is a link. Click it. On your PC, that is. Steam isn't a mobile store, you can play Steam games on your phone, but that requires a PC to actually run the game on. You can use Steam games via GeForce Now on your phone PC-less though. Check out GeForce Now if you don't have a PC!

On your PC. It's a PC game...

You can not play PC games directly on your phone.
Steam does not offer or sell mobile games.
The Steam mobile app is not the Steam client.

Ah, thank you now I get it. But, I guess I'm screwed then as the only PC I have is from work and I doubt the system admin will allow me to download Steam.
