How Does One Enable Surround Sound on Windows 7?
I have a Dp11 turtle beach earforce headset that is suppost to have 5.1 surround sound, but I find no difference compared to my past headset. Is there a certain feature that I need to enable to get surround sound?

Right-click on the volume icon in the system tray. Click "Playback devices".

Right-click on the headphones and click "Configure". You can choose the sound output here.

If there's a special way to get these specific headphones to work, you may want to check the manual.
The manual doesnt say anything about it, but when i click 'configure' it only gives me stero option.

If it just plugs into the standard headphone jack then it's only going to be stereo. Likely it upscales the input to surround.

For true surround, it would either have an optical jack or 3 audio input jacks.
This headset came with a sound processor that connects to the pc witha usb and digital cord

According to the manual, you need to connect an optical audio cable from the PC to the DSS2 in order to get surround sound. It should look like this and according to the manual, should have been included:

You also need to have installed Dolby Digital Live for most games to work with it, I don't even know what that means or where to find it. The manual doesn't actually say where to find it either, or if it's included.

Unless you meet both of these criteria, you will only hear stereo.
Ok great, so now i need to buy a program. Thanks turtle beach for scamming me.
