In steam it also might be a good idea to make a steam group for your clan and have everyone join, you can even set it to invitation only so you have to invite members.
The reason making a group is a good idea is because some games do have support for clan tags, I think the only one I know of is CS:S (not sure about CS:GO) but on the scoreboard there is a column where it displays everyone's clan tag so you don't have to modify your actual username, and it gets the tag from a steam group.
[EDIT] in case you don't know how to make a steam group, just go on your profile and look at the right side, scroll down until you see "Groups". Just click that and then you should see a button that says "create a new group" [/edit]
For Dota 2 apparently there is support for them in game from what I've read. I haven't played Dota 2 yet (I'm waiting for the Linux client) so maybe someone who plays dota 2 can come in here and help you.
However, just from a quick google search I found this list of steps to create a team in dota 2 in-game:
1. Start up DotA 2.
2. Click the Community tab.
3. Click on Create New Team on the Teams subsection.
3. Fill up the Team Info and click Create Team.
I just copy and pasted that from this link:
