HOwever you need to realize that most devs wont support the card so you may run into weird issue or incompatibilties that may never be addressed. For example long load times in BO2 are common with HD4000 chipsets, even though the game runs decently once you actually get into the game.
Hey, it's a learning experience. Don't sweat it. We ALL have them. I once bought a Gateway laptop...back when they were shoving desktop P4s into laptop cases. That laptop heated my office for a year.
You can have a fun gaming experience on a laptop. It just costs more to do things right. :)

"When it comes to 3D horsepower, the HD4000 graphics processor is pretty much just typical integrated graphics. Should be OK for those looking to play some flash games or something less graphically demanding such as Starcraft 2, but those looking to play anything more graphics intensive should consider getting a notebook with a dedicated graphics card."

On page 9 his final verdict is effectively meh. Not too good, not horrible. It should last you for a while though.
Don't be silly. Nobody "hates" your card. It just isn't very good.
Like I said earlier, it's a decent graphics card for on-board video. Of course though you are on a gaming website so I would expect people to call the card "crap" and recommend dedicated video cards. It's a good suggestion for desktops but just not feasible for laptop owners.
I tell you where I use Intel graphics...in servers...where all they do is display login prompts. I can run those at max res, max settings, and with full anti-aliasing. :P
I can also run games just fine on my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ HP netbook. That doesn't mean I'm trading in my Sager SLI notbook any time soon.
Intel graphics might get the job done but they have been and will always be the second-best option.
My laptop has a HD4000 and a Nvidia GT 650m in it. I tell you what...using the i7 HD4000 is CRAP compared to the Nvidia GT 650m gaming IF it even can run at all with the HD! It can be the difference between 10fps or 70-80fps in a GPU heavy game. I'd rather take the 70-80fps any day, have hardware that is compatible to run the game, and be able to ENJOY my game. My laptop is decent in gaming but WAY slower than my properly equipped gaming PC.
