Unrecognized charges - Fraudulent Card Use
I was just notified by my bank that two charges were made to my BofA card - each for nearly $200. I did not make these transactions. I wish to report this fraud to Valve but am having trouble submitting to Steam Support. There is no category which even comes close to this issue - either under Account Questions or under Purchases and Payments. As such, I don't know how to submit this problem - and it is a big PROBLEM. Please help.

Just choose one that is close - the exact category is not going to matter. Put it under billing or something. I assume you've made a chargeback on the charges? Were the charges on your account or someone elses? You can look back through your transaction history to see if they were made on your account.

The charges were not made on my Steam account. I presume they were made on another. However, the charges were made to "Valve Software Seattle WA" so can't be sure if was to any steam account or if was to Valve Store or what exactly.

Well at least that means your steam account is safe. Definitely get your credit card company to issue the chargeback as it is clearly fraud. Also contact Valve support so that they are aware of it and won't block your credit card from further purchases.

If a charge-back is done for any reason before you talk to support, the account and card will be restricted.

If your account is not showing any history of these purchases, someone got your card info somehow.

The account won't be restricted if the chargeback was done on items purchased by another account I would assume. But yes the card will be restricted from purchases which is something he'd have to sort out with support.

His card info must have been stolen - dodgy online store, bugged machine, ATM etc. I had a similar episode where someone removed 500 dollars in cash but the bank caught it and charged back the money. Still not sure how it was stolen - the theives are pretty sophisticated these days!

I just would find it odd if charges were made to Valve from a different account... if someone stole the card info, why Valve?

If the card was stolen, it shouldn't matter if Valve blocks it or not, the card should be reissued with a new number from the bank.
