No game sound when doing voice chat!
YO! SAY! HO! My brother and I, we like to play games, but no game sound is totally lame! We use voice chat, to come up with plans, but with no game sound I never understand. YO! We need a quick fix, so we can get rockin', let me explain to you my problem. I call him, or he calls me, but then I have no sound but him and he has everything plus me! How can I fix this, so I can hear the games, if there is no fix that's totally lame. Fools, Ya Fools!

In other words, when we use Voice Chat he can still hear all the sounds that are involved with games but it always instantly cuts out for me as soon as the call comes in or goes out. It seems like NOBODY has this problem, anyone got a quick fix for Lord Killer Bee?

I'm having the same issue did you ever figure out what the problem was?

Can't say I did. I eventually just went to Ventrilo and started hosting a server through there since it doesnt take away my sound.
Axon is a good voicechat program.

start
control panel
sound
communications

When Windows detects communications activity:

select "Do nothing"

That should fix it for you.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but this issue is relevant to me and the above solution didn't work. :(

^ Thanks, but it didn't work for me. :(

It sucks having to restart steam after a voice chat just so I can get my sound back.

do you have a realtek audio device?

did you try it all after updating or reinstalling your drivers?

Yup, I have a Realtek Audio Device (onboard ASrock Z87 Extreme4).

I updated the drivers yesterday, so yes, I tried it after updating the drivers.

I never come accros this but eliminating everything you must have software with a simular function installed.

I linked that realtek fix yesterday and it worked fine.

I edited my last post to reflect that I got the drivers from my mobo's website, but I will uninstall the software that came with it (not the driver) and see how that works.

those drivers are always years too old.

also do windows updates and all the optional updates that make sense.
