Paypal authentification failure
Hi there Ive been trying to buy some games taking care of the Linux sales but it seems Steam doesnt want to take my money (or theyr kidding me so the sale ends before I can purchase).

Ive entered the exactly and real information on both Paypal and Steam. Ive used Paypal before (not with Steam) like 100 times in many sites and its just fine, my CC is tied and the account is verified and not limited in any way, theres founds more than enough. Ive even made a purchase this morning to test if it was working (paypal) and I was able to get rid of the payment so I guess its a Steam problem.

Im adding all of the info requested by Steam, even copying&pasting it from my paypal info, but it keeps telling me just after all of the process (loging fine in paypal and clicking continue, then select accept steam rules...blabla) that the purchase was not finished, and my operator returned an "Authorization failure".

I contacted Paypal and they told me there wasnt any request so its impossible they had rejected any payment, so why would you Steam fool me?

I know my paypal account works and its not rejecting any payment, but yet Steam keeps telling me there was a failure, Im starting to get mad of trying so many times. Ive tried from my own Linux client, from the website (chrome, firefox..) and from my old Steam account (wich has nothing special I want to keep so I just made a new) purchasing as gift but all of them failed.

Any thoughts? I opened a ticket and its been like 5 days now... this really, sucks so bad... Im starting to wonder If I ever should trust Steam and buy them some games (Im nt very much of a gamer but I was happy about Valve supporting Linux so I decided to buy some few), because if this is what Im gonna get as "support" once Ive payed them, I think its the worst one Ive ever meet (♥♥♥♥, Im begging you to take my money?)

Nobody knows what could be happening? Ive tried a different paypal acc from a friend of mine and it rejects with the same error.

I made a ticket past week, wed/thurs, still no replies : /

try not using the steam client , and use the store via the web instead that may allow you to compleet the paypal side of thing. if not it could be a cookie issue.

It doesnt work via webpage either, tried under Firefox/Chrome in Linux, and IE/Firefox under Windows from a friends home. Also tried from Tablet, mobile... not a cookie issue I think, but more of a steam issue. The login and verification in paypal is all well done, and its working for me (paypal payments) in any other site, so I just dont know why I cant use it here.

The very best is, I cant even pay with my CC, it just reports another error but CC info and balance is OK (I have over 100€ for a 3,80€ payout so I guess its). I shall be receiving a bank sms to allow the transaction but Im not getting even when Steam gives an error. I can see from my bank webpage theres also no charge from Steam to my CC, nor allowed or rejected.

Steam, why would you reject to take my money, huh?

what is seems lik to me is that you can not continue with the paypal purchase after the first part of checkout, is this correct?

Are you sure your using a proper credit card. As I do not think they accept pre-paid credit cards.

you may want to get a steam wallet card locally then put the code in to your account.

I have a valid CC and is not a debit one, so I guess thats not the point.

My paypal account is fully functional, I just payed with it the same day an ebay purchase I was about to do next week just to test, it worked like a charm.

Im having the issue at the very last screen of the payment, I mean, after you succesfully login your paypal credentials in the popped-up HTTPS window (u get the point, dunno how to name it), and click on continue, it closes, then you are back to the Steam main window, you have to check Steam rules (I did), and click to finish, once I click finish I get the error. (@kateweb)

No matter what I try, it just doesnt make the payment either with Paypal or CC. Its just a joke that Im being told 5! days later, that my CC must be out of money (wich is not) and my payment is being rejected when I know, of fact, by previous experience, that even If I try to pay something I have no money enough in my CC my bank is sending me a SMS to notify the failure. Im not getting any but it seems some random Steam support guy want to make me believe the payment was rejected (wich he wouldnt have access to, btw).

Paypal also prepay for you before it gets the money out of your CC (Ill say again just to be clear, I have enough there), so even when I wouldnt have enough in my CC, it should do the payment (and receiving a Paypal email telling me to pay them back or gtfo)

The Linux sale ran out, and I missed it waiting about a week to receive a random answer from a clueless support guy claiming false statements like my payment being rejected by my bank. Im really sure they wont even reply as its totally false that it was rejected.

Planned to purchase a few games and the Source bundle, I dont know If I should be happy I couldnt seeing how Steam support works. Thanks for making me miss the sales Valve, thats the way to earn money, not accepting it and then blamming customers for it.

Btw, Im sorry but Im the OP, its just Ive been messing with both new and old account to see If I could succeed with any, and I finished posting with both of them in the thread by mistake.

I am having the same issue and I would really like an update from Steam on how they are resolving this. I confirmed with Paypal several times that it is not a problem on their end.

Any resolution would be like to buy from Steam but if the system won't let me use pay pal then I can't . Really irritating.

Having the same issue. Kind of weird that a company wouldn't repair issues with payments. I mean...they want to be paid don't they?
BTW did everyone open a ticket to support? All I've gotten is verification its open.

Same problem here... and as I can see, it's an old problem...
