No d3d, opengl fail with: Failed to create SDL window, etc
I could list 300 different errors that me and my friends have, everyone has different issues, but my biggest one is this:

I want to play Half Life mods, namely svencoop, but D3d option is no longer available, and I have a crappy laptop, I can only use that without lagging. But since I wanted to play, I tried to run the game In opengl mode, yet I got the message: Fatal Error, failed to create SDL window. I mean really, wtf. Google doesn't help at all, and I have no idea what to do. Anyone have any ideas regarding this?

Also: whenever I try to run games in 1200x800, it launches in the tinies resolution possible.... like 200x300 or something... LOL

This update was ridiculous, and uncalled for. Bugged out every hl mod. For 10 years valve ignored Hl, and now they suddenly realize that linux exists, and because of that they ruin everything else? Seriously? What the hell gabe?

Same problem here, updated yesterday, hoped that would fix the failed to create SDL windows... Have had steam ticket in since Friday and no luck yet...

Wish they would have left it alone, those of us who are just running older games don't need all the bells and whistles...

I don't like this thing at all. I hope that people from steam will fix this.

You'll have to refer to mod makers to properly update their mods so they work under OpenGL.

Im having the same problem with the SDL window and when I close the window and try to start cs a 2nd time it says that the game will switch to software mode.. the CS screen with the two guys comes up but then when all the options are supposed to appear the whole screen turns green and I can hear a game that is already in progress. I have tried reinstalling, changing monitors, and messing with configs but nothing helps... This is a sad situation when the fixes break everything :(

I found a fix... Start steam, navigate inside steam to your games library, right click on your game and in the configuration arguemnt (whatever they call it) put: -nofbo ..and start your game. I found this in the forums here somewhere and when I tried it it worked but I am unable to find the same post to thank them.

Changing to 32-bit fixed it for me! GeForce Go 6100 (old, I know, but it works!) Compaq Presario F730US - much better on XP than the Vista (phooey!) it came with.

Same issue. It's surreal not being able to play Half-Life in openGL.

Do you have a video driver with OpenGL support installed?

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
