Continuous First Time Setup

As of yesterday, I've been unable to play any of my steam games that I have played countless times before. When I try and play a small window comes up that says First Time Setup, and never seems to make progress or finish, even after hours and hours of it. I'm wondering if there's any fix to this, or if there is any way to launch games alternatively to get around this.

I know it sucks guys im haveing the same problem it mite take some time for steam to come out with a fix. but try run as admin or when you try to load game if your computer asks for a admin password put in password it mite not work but its worth a try.

same with me , 2/3 of my steam games dont even work now , steam what is going on , i brought these games i should be able to play them when i like

i have had this problem for 3 days now): i need help, i have sent a email to steam support and havent got a email back yet (hopefully i will in the next few days) but this problem has been very frustrating. I have tried restarting steam, re installing my games, verifying game cache and restarting my computer. nothing i have done has helped.

I guess I'm not the only one.
I've also sent a ticket to steam, and I havent gotten it back either. They usually respond within 24 hours, but it takes longer over the weekends usually.

ok guys i mite have a temp fix where you can still play your games. go to your steam files where it says steam,steamapps,common, then your game open your game file click on the game file that has the pic of the game and the name of the game and open it. it should let you play it as long as the game is downloaded to your computer. it worked for me hope it works for yall if anybody has any questions just comment here.

thanks for the suggestion bud , but i found they doesnt work for me , only way i can get games to play is by loading up the "big picture" and playing from there :(

It means your first time installs are failing or not giving an exit code of 0. Try running said things manually and see what errors you are getting.

I need more information on this issue. What games do you have this issue with ? What OS are you running ? If Windows, do you run with User Account Control enabled ? Does it go away if you run Steam as Admin ?
