Infinite Steam Cloud Sync
For some reason every time I try to close Steam, even if I open it and immediately close it, it says "Finishing Steam cloud sync" and I am forced to wait like 30 seconds before it actually turns off. This didn't happen to me before, I'm not sure why this happens if anyone knows please feel free to share any help is appreciated. It's more annoying than anything and I'd simply reinstall Steam but that seems to be like a drastic fix.

I thought it did that for everyone. I turn off cloud myself.

Eh, on fresh Steam install it doesn't do that... which is why I found it so strange that it spontaneously started for an unkown reason.

I can fix it with a fresh install it's just a pain to reinstall all my games. If anyone knows how the cloud sync works please teach me! :D

Also, doesn't disabling cloud sync mess up multiplayer games that have online stats like CS and stuff?

had the same problem and I did a reinstall but it came back, plus when I start steam it won't start on the store page like I've set it to but to my games library

Update - I disabled "Steam cloud synchronization for applications which support it" in Steam -> Settings, and still get the "Finishing Steam cloud sync" error.

Feels like someone is hijacking the sync data stream. But I might just be acting paranoid. I refuse to believe Steam's had this feature for this long and still has not fixed annoying little bugs like this. Plus I'm pretty sure my sync option was enabled by default and working perfectly fine until a couple weeks ago.

Wish Steam had like, moderators. :P

Anyway, let's report this to Wesker...
Had the same problem today with wolfenstein keep saying sync and wont launch a game at hall + steam is acting weird as hell

Temporary work around that I do; close steam manually with task manager. Idk if that will damage steam in any way though since it's attempting to cloud sync.

But I haven't had any problems yet and it checks for updates every time it relaunches so if its doing the cloud sync thing while trying to update, like me, then that could work for you too.

I found an alternative solution if you are experiencing this problem after exiting a certain game, try cleaning the save files. When a game has too many save files, steam can take too long to sync. It worked when I did it in Skyrim.

Just happened to me after I tried to exit Steam right after closing a game.

What I did to fix it was open the game again, close it, then wait a bit until Steam recognized that the game was no longer running. After that, I didn't get the error.

Was this a bug or something wrong that we did?

YOO i found a fix, if you turn off cloud sync and then start the last game you played and cancel it straight away it worked for me.
