Dota 2 wont launch

so ive been trying to play dota 2 for awhile now, and every time i try to run it, i get the little thing that says "preparing to launch dota 2" and then nothing happens. ive uninstalled/ reinstalled about 5 times by now and i still get the same result. the same thing has happened to my left 4 dead 2, but none of my other valve or steam games. can anyone help me?:(

im having the same problem aswell. i have yet to find a solution. I have tried re-installing, running as administrator, windows compatibility, integrity check, closing firewall, and restarting my computer. Also, the weird part is i played dota about 2 months ago and it was working fine. but after my 2 month break, all i get is preparing to launch and nothing else.

You could try this
Open your dota2 folder
Steam > Steamapps > common > dota2 beta > dota > cfg > Open VIDEO.TXT

look at setting.fullscreen Change "1" ---> "0" then save

You could also try this launch options: -autoconfg or -safe

my cfg folder is empty is that wrong ?

Disabling the steam cloud for Dota 2 worked for me.

I had the same problem, So i did go offline and lunch dota 2 and it worked in offline mode then i go online and stryed igain and it worked :D
