Can I install Steam and actually play games on the Microsoft Surface Pro?

I am looking into purchasing a new tablet and have been looking into the Microsoft Surface. From what I can tell, you can't download third party apps on the Surface RT but the Surface Pro is supposed to be a full windows 8. Does anyone know if that means I would be able to download and play games via Steam on this tablet?

yes with the surface pro U can play steam games on it. im actually writing this from my surface pro and i played xcom enemy unkown 5 min ago, without mouse or keyboard.. Playing other games then strategy games is hard though, if you only use the tablets pen. Don't forget to change ur display to 125% in personalize options or you els you can't navigate in the menu of the game or push any options.
