Linux Steam: Missing Fonts
i have recently installed steam on Linux, but whenever I start steam, there is no text on anything. I dont even see my username when i attempt to type it in. any and all help would be greatly appreciated

If you're running the windows version of steam under wine I highly recommend you copy over all your real windows fonts into the Wine C:\Windows\Fonts\ folder or everything will look blocky.
But as you're not even seeing those perhaps its something to do with the linux beta version of steam. Or your video card drivers aren't installed (complete with control panel, etc).
Is this in Steam's "normal" or "Big Picture" mode? Flip it back and forth once because maybe its just a visual glitch that hasn't been ironed out yet.

i have already moved all my windows fonts into wine fonts, but that didnt work :/ and i cant even log into steam becasue i dont know what to do, due to missing text. and wouldnt something else be bugging out if i didnt have my video card driver installed?

Bring your distro name and version, graphics card make and model and binary driver version, for starters.

Ask those questions too. They have plenty of skilled people who can help. (I'll be lookig for your post)

Wait, if you need help getting games to run with the Steam for Linux client, hit that forum. Help with Wine is a different matter entirely.

nah i run games fine, its just that its incredibly hard to navigate without text

I got this problem too. But its from Windows 8.1
