Steam - Cannot Login AT ALL
My partner and I both use steam often, mine works but her's WILL NOT connect. Our computers are next to each other, wireless to the router yet hers is dead.

Basically, It'll start up and if its a fresh install, it'll update steam, HOWEVER once you get to the part of putting in your Username/Password. Thats It. It just keeps looping "Steam is having trouble connecting to the Steam servers."

We've checked all the services, regiedit, network, router, port forwarding, restarting PC/Router, re-installed steam, deleted the blob files. EVERYTHING. it's almost as if Valve blocked her Mac Address (even though she rarely plays online games like CoD, TF2 and that sort). I've tried my accounts details, hers, friends etc to log in and it's all the same thing.

I've tried looking online for a solution, and so far every solution has been a flop.

EDIT: Also tried logging into Steam via Chrome, that works. So It's definitely an issue with the steam files.

just to make sure its not an account issue can you have her try and log in on your computer, if it fails that means you may have to contact Steam support.

Yeah, she can log into my PC fine.
Tried all of those options, nothings worked. contacted steam support about 5 days ago and havent gotten a reply yet.

check the firewall on her computer, also take a peek at her host file to see if any steam ip's turn up delete them and flush your DNS cache.

her firewall is off, and no "steam" or "valve" details were in the host.
+flushed DNS
+Turned on Firewall. still nothing.

This is what she gets EVERYTIME so far: http://i49.tinypic.com/2u7n0qh.png

shes using Avast! and the router type is Netgear DG834Gv5, all ports are forwarded for Steam.
Avast is also set to allow all Steam communication.

router is updated, we tried removing avast! 100% incl' registry data and windows is up to date.

Its been updated a few months ago as Netgear don't make firmware for that model anymore (as its old) and done the whole network config on it.

Here's the DxDiag: http://ompldr.org/vaGFncQ/DxDiag.txt

what happens when you ping steam IP's from her computer ?
Ori. Jan 30, 2013 @ 6:03pm
Sees it. when installing steam it'll connect and update, but it cant seem to connect to the server that controls the user database.
KittenCanaveral Jan 30, 2013 @ 6:05pm
something on her computer is blocking a related service is the only thing I can think of at this point, unless you can log in via her computer.
Ori. Jan 30, 2013 @ 7:13pm
I don't know her password for steam, but I can use an alt account of mine to log in from her PC. It's just weird because she can log in through Chrome, Firefox etc, but steam ITSELF wont even try to connect to the user database.

EDIT: Just did tracert again, it hit a snag between Seattle and 209.196.6.34 (Houston, Texas) but still continued on to Valve/Steam.

You could try uninstalling again , and clean out any steam cashes you can find and then reinstall. I can't tink of much else at this point.

done that. We've decided to just give up. She'll have to stick to the Xbox for a while until Steam decides to magically fix itself. Been a week now and freaking Steam Support hasn't ushered a word, It's like Origin's slowly converting over. :\
