I'm getting it for 1000-1200 dollars, it's a steal. Buying big to allow me to play any game now and any game in the future that may require stats like that.

You are actually over paying. Your central processing unit and graphics processing unit are $300 each, and the other things are just minor.

Compared to other computers with the same specs its 200$ under the market. But Idrc because I'm only paying for half.

Edit: Plus I get it for around 800-900 since I have a 20% discount where Im buying it

get better GPU
This right here. That GPU is mid range. You said you want to run everything but you nev3er said if lowest settings and 10 fps was ok or not. In anycase if you want to make sure you can run anything then get a more powerful GPU. The 660 is a very good card but thats not what you asked. It is actually a gimped version of a 670.

If you want the best bang for the buck then look here.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107.html

If money is an issue I would go with an AMD 7970. It will smoke a GTX 660. If you consider yourself loaded then why not a GTX 690?

Also why the gimped hard drive? 3Gb is so yesterday. If you can not afford a SSD boot drive at least get a 6Gb hard drive. I also suspect the motherboard is a POS micro version but it is not listed. I guess all motherboards are created equal even though they range from $50.00 to $500.00 they are likely the same, right? Hell no.

Memory: $42.99 (Link)[www.newegg.com]
Hard Disk Drive: $74.99 (Link)[www.newegg.com]
GPU: $229.99 (Link)[www.newegg.com]

Total price: 647.96

Whoever is trying to tell you these components cost 1000$ to 1200$ is lying. Even with the discount you have mentioned, turning it down to $800 to $900, you are still seriously being scammed.

I suggest you stay away from the individual trying to do this to you.

I assume it has a case $50 to $400
I assume it has a power supply $25 to $350
I assume it has Windows $99 to $190
I assume it has a motherboard $50 to $400

None of this was mentioned. Usually it is assumed the most significant parts are being replaced in an existing setup.
Why would you assume that? It sounds like a new computer build to me. He does not really need to mention the case, the PSU or the OS as those have nothing to do with his question, which is performance related. Also he did mention the OS which is about $150.00 retail.

BTW, as a professional builder I you can get an i5 just as fast as that i7 for games. Not as fast for rendering or muti threaded tasks but just as gast for games for less money. Take that cash and get a better video card. Please don't buy a Dell. You will regret.

It's the Alienware x51 if you must know. Also if you have any suggestions for better/same specs for cheaper please provide links or ideas.

Made by Dell, and nothing special. Not a bad PC, just overpriced for what you get. As a prfessional builder I or any builder that knows could build a better system for gaming for less.

How much less? A main reason I picked it was I love the case (and status quo)

I wouldn't expect a huge savings but what do you mean status quo? Alienware buyers these days are seen as simpletons that have more money then brain. You are buying a glorified Dell with a cool case. The CPU is really good, the GPU is not bad but I suspect the motherboard is lack luster and the PSU is likely be to subpar also.

Seriously if you wan status have a PC custom built for you buy a store or someone that games and understands hardware. If you want a cool case there are many very cool off the self cases. You are paying a couple hundred bucks for a sticker that says "Alienware". Nothing screams "I know nothing about computers" louder then the person that owns a Alienware.

Stop reading ads in gamer mags and start reading thttp://www.tomshardware.com/.

The specs you listed the Hard drive is 3Gbs. The industry standard is 6Gbs which is a lot faster. It concerns me that they did not spend the $5.00 to make it 6Gbps. What other short cuts did they take?

So alien ware actually isnt a good gaming computer for that price range?
Legendary old man 26 ENE 2013 a las 5:51 p. m.
They are pretty good computers but over priced. Someone that knows hardware can build a faster system for less money. Look at this chart. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-4.html

As you can see the i5 is just as fast as the i7 in games, which is what you are looking for. Look at the savings in price. The problem is that witht the system you listed the money is not well spent.

I would be looking at a good i5 so you could do one of 2 things. Either get a better video card or add a SSD as a boot drive and put your most played games on it.

The i7 you are looking at is more expensive then the i5 I listed and this i5 will smash your i7 in games. The i7 in the chart i linked is way faster then the i7 you listed yet this cheeper i5 beats yours and is just as fast as the much more expensive i7. Do they know what they are doing?
