steam old folder after new installation
hi there,

recently i installed a new harddisk into my computer and installed windows7 and steam all new. my old harddisk with all the steam games is installed as a second harddrive. how can i tell the steam application that it should use the old folder (D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common) ??

i hope someone can help me with this.

If steam is installed on the same drive as your old steam install:

1: Make sure you have no steam clients running.
2: Go to your old steam install and select the Steamapps folder.
3: Move the steamapps folder to the new install.
4: Run the new steam install and login.
5: If none of the games are listed as installed try to install a game (this should make steam see your files)
6: After you verify that the games are there delete the old steam install

If steam is installed on a different drive as your old steam install:

1: Make sure you have no steam clients running.
2: Uninstall the NEW steam client.
3: Rename the old steam directory Steam.old
4: Install a new copy of steam where your old one used to be (D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam)
5: Once the install is done move the steamapps folder from Steam.old to Steam
6: Run the new steam install and login.
7: If none of the games are listed as installed try to install a game (this should make steam see your files)
8: After you verify that the games are there delete the old steam install
