Battlefield 2 - Crashes on startup. And has been since I bought it.
Specs: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2200 @ 2.20GHz 2.20 GHz
RAM 2.00 GB
32-bit operating system

Ok, here's what's going on, I startup BF2, The menu says it's performing first time setup(like installing stuff), and after that, it launches into black screen, and closes with no error message.

Jesus, I did a run-on sentence, right there. Now help me?

You're probably running into some sort of error installing the redist packages and/or Punkbuster. Try running Steam as Administrator and go from there. If that doesn't work, firewall/antivirus software could be blocking the PB installation, try disabling or preferably creating an exception for Punkbuster.

Alternately, take your shiny Battlefield 2 serial number and redeem it on Origin. Install from there.

Where do I find the serial code?
Sorry, but this is the first time I had to actually do this.
Right click on the title in the library and "View CD Key".

I apologize if I'm wasting you're time, but how I enter the serial code into Origin and get the game? Because Origin seems to be saying that's it's not valid.

If you can't do it in the Origin client, try here: https://activate.ea.com/activategame.do

If it still doesn't work, contact Origin support -- they've got a live chat that will activate things on your account fairly quickly and easily.
Messaggio originale di Fred:
Do not redirect individuals to another platform unless it is a last desperate resort.

It's an Electronic Arts game, Fred. Talking to the people who publish and support the game makes sense. Using Origin natively to run Battlefield makes sense.
Messaggio originale di Fred:
You should not be redirecting users who buy Electronic Arts products on Steam to Origin because it "makes sense" in your opinion.

Which is your opinion, Fred. If the Penguin can get his game working more easily by going directly through the publisher, that's his prerogative.

If a product is sold on Steam it is expected for this product to perform as desired. That is, in a working state.

When Battlefield 2 was released, Origin did not exist yet. You should not be redirecting users who buy Electronic Arts products on Steam to Origin because it "makes sense" in your opinion.

I apologize for my late response, but BF2 does not work on Origin, either. :/
I guess I wasted $10 of my earned cash. :/
